New Pink Gin and lots of Great Taste awards!

We’re well into the summer holidays now and have released our new Organic Pink Gin as the perfect tipple for those lazy beach days and evenings!

It’s been in the pipeline for a while but, perfectionists as we are, we couldn’t release it until we got it just right! The Pink Gin has a base gin that Mike has distilled to get a sweeter, more floral taste with ingredients such as vanilla, elderflower and cinnamon. After distilling the gin we chucked a whole load of strawberries in it and left them until the gin had sucked out all their flavour and colour, resulting in Pink gin!

We’ve also had a bit of a make over on the branding for it- you may notice its a little different in look to our other gins. We had a fabulous illustration student, Corie-Beth Jones, design us the images for the gin which has really made a difference to our labels.

We’re pretty pleased with it- let us know your thoughts!

Separately we’ve had some great news on the awards front. The great taste awards have just been announced and we’ve done pretty well! Our Apple Brandy is leading the way with the wonderful 3* award, closely followed by our Oak-Aged Gin winning the 2* and the Seaweed Gin and Orange 33 both scooping a 1* award each. (Caws Teifi also had some big winners- see their news page for details!)

These are pretty special awards as there were a massive 12,772 entries this year so to get anything is pretty amazing! We just have to wait until the 1st of September now to find out whether our Apple Brandy makes it into the final honours- fingers crossed!

Summers here and experimentation is rife at the distillery!

We haven’t posted here in a while, too busy squirreling away experimenting and making some new products (and enjoying the sun now its here!).

Our resident French student, Etienne is currently experimenting with making Absenthe- not an easy task especially getting the Louche effect perfect! He is also currently working on trying to get the correct balance between bitterness, sweetness and aniseed.

The rest of the team have been playing about with Limoncello- we’d say just for staff drinkies but if we get it just right we’ll let you guys know! For our first batch we steeped the lemon rind in alcohol and also distilled with the rest of the lemons, popping it all together with a sugar syrup at the end which left us with a lovely cloudy Limoncello.

Finally, people have been asking us for a while to make a summery gin, so this year we’ve been playing about and are excited to announce that we have a new strawberry gin coming out in the next few weeks- watch this space, it wont be long!

Dà Mhìle is paid a royal visit!

BIG NEWS! Prince Charles (and many other lovely guests) visited our distillery this week!

After years of building our family business, we are proud and honored to have been paid a royal visit.

Big thanks to everyone who came out, especially Master of Malt, Castell Howell, Blas ar Fwyd and all of our family and friends!
